A question about nylon strings for the oud
« on: April 16, 2015, 06:57:14 AM »
I don't know much about this stuff, but I always thought all nylon strings were pretty much equivalent. However, I've read somewhere (online) that some nylon strings can be more dense than others, is that true?

It all depends on the nylon composition used by the string maker, densities can actually range from about 1.04 gm/cm³ to about 1.12 gm/cm³ - 1.08 gm/cm³, just to give an example. So, some nylon compositions are more dense than others, they aren't all made equal.
