Question about an oud's soundboard - help!
« on: March 27, 2015, 06:23:08 AM »
When it comes to the oud's soundboard, what's more important? is precise bracing more important than a thinner face? How important is the face's thickness? Can someone please help? Thanks in advance! :)

My 2 cents.

Thickness is indeed important but it can vary. I'm not an expert here, but I have seen ouds with a face 1,5 mm thick, but I've seen ones with a 2 mm thick face as well. What's more important here is the wood quality!

@skylight: Are you building an oud all by yourself? How do you do it? Did you find tutorials somewhere or how?
