« on: May 07, 2015, 02:25:05 AM »
Hey

How hard is it to establish a band of darbuka players? and can a darbuka players band perform without any othet musical instruments?
Will you agree to take a part on this band?

I guess it would depend how many other durbakke players you can find in your area who are willing to start a band with you.

And yes, it's possible for durbakke players to form a band on their own :)

Although I would say it might be nice to throw another instrument or two into the mix every so often just to keep things interesting, even if it's just another percussion instrument like a daf or a riq.

As much my heart is dying to say yes, I am well aware that itís nearly impossible for players to established a band like that, it needs planning and good connection with each other, so you really canít have that in days or week, it takes month to build that relationship.

True, it does take a long time to establish any good band, and for the players to build that connection that allows them to play together harmoniously, but it doesn't mean they shouldn't try if they really want it ;)

In college we group of friends had our own Darbuka band group, but it was just to that level after that we all started concentrating on different things. I feel the first thing is been close because unknown people can never create that magic which is needed.

Why not? I have the passion and if I get support I am willing to take part without much thinking, I know itís not easy to get much out of this but at least, it will fulfill my interest and life is given only once so I want to do what I love! So are you willing to really make it serious?

If I wish it was that easy to establish a band, as itís not just about players but having mastery over all instruments since we can be expecting everyone to be good at just Darbuka and not have any clue about others, it will never make a good band.
