Why Turkish aluminum darbuka sounds so bad?
« on: May 06, 2015, 01:37:31 AM »
Hey
I have played with many Turkish darbukas and sound compere to the Egyptian darbuka is like you play on a can.
Do you have any explanations why don't the Turkish factories know how to make a decent aluminum darbuka?

In the other hand they know how to make a great ceramic darbuka!
I am sure that most of the professional players will agree on that fact!

Thanks

Totally agree!

I got for my birthday a Turkish darbuka. It weigh around 3k"g and i prefer to play on frying pan than this one.
I will probably put some flowers on it and use it as flower vase...

Although I am not in great favor of this as my favorite is of course Arabic one, but still I donít think itís too badÖ Itís basically on personal liking, as there are many who are happier using other Darbukas but I have seen people enjoying Turkish one too.

Saida why donít you sell it? I mean you will get a decent price if itís in right condition and trust me not everyone thinks like you as itís highly rated amongst many players, so itís on personal choice that you donít like it and on other hand there are many people who would love to have it.
