Pieces for beginners
« on: May 30, 2015, 12:44:08 PM »
Hi,

I've been practicing my new ney for a few days, and I wonder which would be the best way for me to make progress.

Which maqams would be more suited for beginners?
(I've been improvising on hijaz and nakriz. They sound great!)

Also, which tunes would you recommend?

hey avel
rast, husieni, ussak, kurd, hicaz... the basic forms.
as for tunes to play - its best that you find tunes you like and try to read them in notes, i started with omer faruk tekbilek tunes, which are somewhat easy.
