« on: April 14, 2015, 04:20:08 AM »
Do you know what the main differences are between an Arabic and a Turkish oud? Besides the tuning, which I understand is done differently on these 2 type of ouds.

:) :P :D

Well, Arabic Ouds are larger in size, and their sound is more intense. Another difference would be that the Turkish oud has a lower string action, compared the the Arabic one. When I'll think of some more differences, I'll be back! These are just off the top of my head :)

Molly is right, there is a difference in size, I personally have a Turkish oud, it's not because I'm a woman and thus, smaller in size myself, I just prefer it to the Arabic model.

As already cleared by Molly about the difference, I find Arabic Ouds much better, itís all about personal preference, as many of my friends and even my sister enjoys Turkish Oud much more, so itís just that I feel better with Arabic, but at the end both are great!

Wow Keisha itís great to see a woman as we often see here people talking how woman are not too much interested in these things, but nice to see you. I am using Arabic Oud, as I feel thatís much more comfortable for anyone to be using.
