I recall reading about this problem once, it seems that among the most common issues an oud owner can have is keeping the oud away from humidity.
These instruments are built in dry climate countries, so exporting them into not-so-dry climate countries can turn out to be quite a problem.

So, what does everyone here do to preserve their oud the best way possible?

Oud Lovers / Does anyone also love the sintir?

I know it's not a guitar, it's more like a bass, but nevertheless it sounds great!
I mean, just listen:

So, does anyone else think this sounds great? I did find another video like his one, but it's not as good, this one's better, it captures the essence of the sound, so to speak.

I don't have an oud of my own, but I know someone who does and they're looking for a teacher. So, I was wondering, is it possible to learn how to play with the help of a guitar teacher? Because oud teachers are like precious gems, you can barely find one :(

Just wondering where everyone gets their music sheets from :)
Do you have a reliable source online? It's pretty difficult to find them online at the snap of the fingers..

I'm so new to this! So bare with me here please  :D
I understand that there are specific tones one should learn about, when playing the darbuka, what are they? I'm assuming they have nothing to do with the regular piano tones, for instance, since this is a totally different music instrument.
Can someone help and explain this to me?

Ney, Kawala Lovers / Is there a difference between a kawala and a ney?

I have a question, regarding the kawala instrument. Is there a difference between it and a classical nay? I know one has one hole extra, but other than that what's the difference?
