Hi all,

I have a few question regarding Arabic and Turkish Oud. What's the difference between "Arabic" and "Turkish" tuning? Can I tune my Arabic oud to Turkish tuning? Can I tune my Turkish oud to Arabic Tuning?

Doumbek Advice, Tips Questions & Lessons / Which is the best Darbuka for new user?

 I have determined to buy my first doumbek or darbuka, but there are so many types like aluminum, copper, brass, nickel-plated, ceramic & so on to choose from, so I'm not sure which one to get.
Which doumbek would you recommend for a first time buyer? Which will be the best for me?
Please answer.

Riq, Mazhar, bendir, Tar... Lover / How to play an open dum on a riq!

Hi all,
As I am a Riq lover and trying to learn how to play an open dum on a riq while playing in closed position. I can see many middle eastern riq players doing that very smoothly : while playing in closed position they unhand the right hand, holding the riq only with the left hand to play a loud dum and then grab the riq again back to the closed position. I can do that, but I have some difficulties holding the riq well balanced especially when I have to play a left hand tek before my right hand hits the skin again.
I would appreciate any trick or piece of advice on how to achieve that
