^ They're not hard to find, you can easily buy them on  eBay or other websites. They're good though, so if you must choose, choose the he-head, they are much more high quality than other similar products.

Case, yes, I agree. But also, we should take the instruments out 'for a walk' from time to time. I don't play my oud everyday, but I live in a very humid country - Italy... so you know.. keeping it inside the case all the time is not a good idea!

Oh, what a beauty! You got yourself quite a good instrument, fitz!

If you're a beginner, you could easily find lessons on yourtube. However, if you're looking for something more advanced (which you might anyway, sooner or later), have a look here: http://www.arabinstruments.com/gold-package-darbuka-doumbek-lessons, they offer a pretty good deal.

I know there are quite a few finger techniques used to pay the darbuka, can someone explain some of them or at least share a good video with how it's done? I don't even know how many finger techniques are there.. but I know playing the darbuka is all about finger technique.

If you had to choose between buying a copper drum and an aluminium one, which would you choose? Some say that copper darbukas sound better, is that the case?

Doumbek, Darbuka Lovers / Darbuka camps?

Has anyone ever been on one of those drumming camps, where you simply lay the darbuka from morning 'till evening? Are there any available in Europe? I have read about a drumming camp in California but I am in Europe (Italy) so I was wondering if anyone knows any such destinations.

I didn't even think to look for oud teachers!
I live in Italy so, with so many foreigners moving here in the past few years, I'm almost sure finding an oud teacher is not impossible!

I think keeping the oud out of the sun and heat in general is a good idea! It's even recommended, so it won't ruin the paint as it is handmade.

Yes there are! You're right, they're not internationally famous, but they are each one of a kind!
I would say my personal favorite is Mohamed el Qasabgi (don't ask me how to pronounce his last name! ). Just google him, you will be able to listen to some of his music
