Some tips for making Oud Sound Better.

1. Tune your Oud by Ear
2. Playing too close to the bridge or too close to the sound hole creates a different sound
3. Usually more middle frequencies are highlighted and some say this Oud sounds more like a guitar because of this. You must decide for yourself.

Hello all. I recently obtained an Oud from Cairo which has 12 pegs. I would like to see some kind of diagram of the placement of the strings and recommended set of strings.

Cherry like maple is a very stable wood. however when it is cut on the slab and highly figured it does demand more attention especially when bending. it will tend to have weak spots that will want to bend too much and stiff ones that are harder to bend right next to each other. You can do it but I highly recommended using a form in this case. If the grain was vertical you would have an easier time.

Turkish Ouds are fairly easy to spot. It is not always the case, but the soundboard is very rarely coated. It is usually a very light wood color most likely due to use of spruce. This is a very general ornament that might tell you immediately what kind of Oud you are looking for easy learning.

Greeting, the best one spouse to be made out of ceramic,or metals, but beside the shells there are several features which putting it together, would give quality to the instruments,(skin, configuration, the rod tuning system, the thickness of the shells, etc).
