The knobs are very hard to turn and they slip a lot .

Pay attention: The pegs are of conical shape. Pull the peg a bit out of hole to loosen and turn, push it back into hole to fasten postion.

Sorry, I guess you are a Bot!!! - Please add your sample, if I'm wrong!

But really - nice Spam.
I'll leave it for creativity in data mining.

Hey folks, be aware:
Drummers haven't *those* problems as well!!! 🤣

Brunette, you're welcome!  :)
Me, I started drumming as dancer too - with Salsa styles and Conga drums. It's about 7 years ago, and I cannot stop to do percussion now.

I'm glad to hear your story and I wish you all the best. Don't hesitate to come with more detailed questions. I'm sure it's a lot folks around here, interested in bellydance, me too.

A good learning app, adressed to both - drummers and dancers, you can find here:

Darbuka Rhythms by Artem Uzunov

Hi, dear, I'd actually like to see more requests like yours

Regarding the music:
There's several parts: intro, malfuf (2/4), saidi (4/4), samai (10/4), saidi (again), malfuf (again) and extro.
Good luck for your 1st choreography!

How long have you been a dancer now?

Hi, I guess stingray is actually rare all over the world, but I've just seen nice drums with catfish on it.
Good idea?? - What do you think?!

Next, how to learn the sounds:
  • Begin with open strokes only:
    Doum (D), Tekka (TK).
  • When you can do strong D while TK sounds similar each to each other, you may continue with closed strokes:
    Grab, Slap and closed TK....
  • Then try to modulate TK from sound open tone to whispering sounds or loud closed ones at the other end.
  • And when you mastered this, then I'd recommend you, to continue with muffled tones like those effect, Aviel is showing in the video.

So, I'm looking forward, you'll become a great drummer!
See you...

Hi david, you're welcome. - Don't worry, you need at least some weeks of training to get clear sounds. And you may improve your skills by years..!

Let's look your drum first: It maybe staying untuned coming from bazaar only. To proof the state of the skin, slightly press in it's middle with one fingertip or thumb.
Look the reaction: If whole skin sags, it is too weak, otherwise you'd see some hollow around your finger, while skin actually stays streched up to the edge!

Please read my tuning advice!

Nice piece!  - Looking the wooden strip, I'd remark some resting glue on its surface. Its appearance looks like colophony. Probably, skin originally was glued with natural resin based on pine or similar tree. It seems to be an old handcrafted drum. - What a beauty!!!

Darbuka Sound & Video Clips / Re: Help me... Rhythms of these songs?

Hi, it's Masmoudi saghir (so called Baladi) both.

The base is:

D-D-+-S-D---S---| played with strong (commonly the right) hand

1st song uses a filled form:

2nd song is a "walking" form (with bridge):

D = Dum
S = Slap ("Pa" - You might play a loud Tek instead, if you are beginner)
- = Time marker (Rest)
+ = Pulse marker (Rest)
t = Tek
k = Ka
