Which frame drums are equipped with cymbals?
« on: March 12, 2015, 04:22:44 AM »
Of all the frame drum types that exist, which are the ones that have cymbals on the sides?
I know the Riq and the Daf are equipped with cymbals (although not all Dafs, only some).
Do you know of any other drums that have them?

:) :P :D

I thought cymbals were a separate instrument. Took me a while to figure out what you meant by frame drums equipped with cymbals! :D Oops!

I think the mazhars have cymbals too. And I know of another type of frame drum, called the Pandeiro, but it's not Arab, it's from Brazil (I think)

Well, there are so many frame drum types out there, I really can't tell! There are also different types of drums that come from different parts of the world, as Molly pointed out. I think only a frame drum expert can answer your question correctly :P
